Tommee Balukea
Between Osaka and Paris the Singles
Tommee's solo performances have taken him to the Peats Ridge Festival (2006,2007 & 2009) as well as tours of Indonesia, Canada, Europe and Japan including shows at the Fuji Rock Festival . Now touring with an exciting new rhythm section of Rory Brown on the Double Bass and Walter Piccolruaz on the Pandeiro, and celebrating the release of his fourth album "Material is Thick", Tommee will transport you to that world of traditional stories and freedom.
Born on Sumbawa Island in Indonesia, Tommee's music resonates with that life of farmers, fishermen, rice fields, rivers and traditional stories; full of freedom. An exotic mix of roots, reggae, Latin and Afro beats infused with traditional strings it is a musical journey that has already circumnavigated the globe.
Tommee was touring his newest album, Recipe, which was inspired by palumara, a fish soup from his home island of Sumbawa. Each track is named after an ingredient in the soup and, by the sound of the album, it is one tasty dish.
